Cuatro Vientos (Four Winds) Neighborhood Park

Award-winning Neighborhood Park Design

Location: Denver, CO

“…Stream developed park elements that pay homage to the many cultures and nationalities represented in the Westwood neighborhood, truly creating a place for the people of the community. I commend them on their diligence and commitment to the project which resulted in “pound for pound the best park in Denver.”” – Sincerely, Hon. Paul D. Lopez, Councilman City and County of Denver, District 3

Stream transformed a 1.5-acre parcel into a new park for the historically underserved Westwood neighborhood in southwest Denver. Stream collaborated with LiveWell Westwood to organize a series of public meetings to engage the community in the design process. Stream integrated community input to create a unique identity for the park, which encouraged the community to take ownership of the project and resulting park. This effort earned the 2012 Outstanding Planning Project Award in Community Engagement from the American Planning Association.

The new park offers the community recreational activities and flexible play options, including a walking trail, multi-use turf field, grassy hills, a “four winds” interactive water feature, a ball court game area, a skate spot, a sheltered picnic area, a new playground, and a custom chrome eagle sculpture developed by a local artist. The park earned a Merit Award for Design from the American Society for Landscape Architects (ASLA) Colorado in 2015.
