Campus and Athletic Fields Design
Situated near the foothills, Golden High School has a spectacular, and very constrained setting. The site is nestled in an existing neighborhood and is bordered by drainageways, steep slopes, and existing arterial streets. The dynamic site design engages the context, and creates dramatic spaces between the multiple buildings of the campus, integrates a separate bus drop-off loop, and uses xeriscape a native plant palette to mesh the manicured landscape around the buildings with the surrounding native foothill landscape. Pedestrian connections to adjacent neighborhoods and primary trail systems were strengthened, and vehicular circulation was greatly improved by separating bus and vehicular entrances to the site.
Stream principals led the project in site planning, design and construction observation while working with Wenk Associates.
