Mr. Thomas is a registered Professional Landscape Architect in the State of Colorado (RLA #313) with more than twenty-three years of professional experience. His client services include design guidelines, park master plans, feasibility studies, construction documents, construction observation, habitat mitigation, and environmental permitting. He has extensive experience throughout the Rocky Mountain Region on projects including water resource related design and planning, parks and open space development, natural area restoration, trail systems planning and design, campus and master planning, and site planning. Mr. Thomas has substantial trail design and planning experience, including the Clear Creek Canyon Trail Feasibility Study performed for Jefferson County, The Peak to Plains Trail design in Clear Creek canyon, and the St. Vrain Greenway master plan and five phases of construction documents in Longmont, Colorado. He also led numerous multi-disciplinary park master planning and detailed design projects oriented around water resource features, including the award-winning South Platte River Vision for Arapahoe County, 200-acres in community parks at Lowry, and Denver’s Sloan’s Lake Marina Renovation master plan and construction documents. Prior to joining Stream Design, Mr. Thomas was Landscape Architecture Practice Leader and Senior Project Manager at the URS Corporation, and Vice President and Senior Project Manager at Wenk Associates in Denver.
He has been recognized in the Rocky Mountain Region for his work in water resource design, and has presented numerous papers and seminars throughout the region on the topics of bio-engineering, channel reclamation, sustainable infrastructure, and the integration of stormwater quality best management practices (BMPs) into the built environment.
