A renovated playground within a popular, historic Denver, Colorado Park
Location: Denver, Colorado
Stream was contracted by the City of Denver to design improvements for renovation of the regional playground at Denver’s most visited park. Stream was tasked with modernizing the area to appeal to a wide array of visitors and focus on quality over quantity. The design team, in collaboration with a passionate community group, envisioned an experiential environment that would offer options to visitors of all ages including structured and less structured elements. Design elements include unstructured “messy” areas, giant birdhouses high in the trees, a wavy walk, log jams, and sensory refuge areas. By encouraging children to engage in acceptable levels of calculated risk-taking and co-mingled interaction, the playground encourages fun as well as cognitive and physical development.
