Inspiration Point Park

A reenergized historic park provides a heart for the community

Location: Denver, CO

Built in Denver in the early 1900s as a driving loop accessing a prominent high point with expansive views of the Rocky Mountains, Inspiration Point Park has needed to evolve with the times. Until recently, the 110-year-old park was underutilized, and a bit forlorn. Not many people visited this City Beautiful-era park, despite its unmatched native foothills landscape and its namesake overlook, primarily because the lack of visitors and activity in the park made it feel a bit abandoned and remote. Stream Landscape Architecture + Planning was hired by the City & County of Denver to bring life back to the historic 26- acre park through an infusion of improved facilities, restoration of the historic features, and attractive new program elements.

Stream focused on creating new, family-friendly uses while stabilizing and protecting the historic park elements and the outstanding foothills native landscape that contribute to its rich sense of place. The result is a reenergized park that celebrates old and new, and brings in visitors from across the city, while providing a social heart for its adjacent community.
