Circulation Masterplan and Traffic Circle Design

Denver, Colorado

Several years after a Stream principal led the original park-wide planning effort for the City Park Circulation Master Plan while with another firm, Stream continues to be involved in important projects in Denver’s City Park. Most recently, Stream was selected by Denver Parks and Recreation to develop roadway improvements and a traffic circle at the Montview entrance to City Park. The circulation improvements enhance park and museum user experience by improving entrance clarity and providing a one-way vehicular circulation system with improved wayfinding, and is the gateway for hundreds of bus loads of students visiting the Denver Museum of Nature and Science from surrounding area schools. In addition to improving circulation, the feature visually distinguishes the park entrance with a dynamic landscape of raised planting beds and ornamental trees. Stream collaborated with project engineers and museum architects to integrate the features into previously designed plazas, and to accommodate existing pedestrian and bike routes through the park.
